Italian mezzo soprano, Alessandra Volpe has appeared for the BAYERISCHE STAATSOPER MUNICH, OPERNHAUS ZURICH, WELSH NATIONAL OPERA, GLYNDEBOURNE FESTIVAL OPERA and OPERA NORTH in the UK, DEN NORSKE OPERA, TEATRO CARLO FELICE GENOVA, TEATRO PETRUZZELLI BARI, TEATRO LIRICO CAGIARI, OPÉRA DE NICE, OPERA DE OVIEDO, STADTTHEATER ST. GALLEN, TEATRO SÃO CARLOS LISBON, OPERA DE TENERIFE, at the ARENA DI VERONA, the ROSSINI OPERA FESTIVAL WILDBAD, the WEXFORD FESTIVAL and at London’s ROYAL ALBERT HALL.
Volpe’s engagements during 2023 and 2024 have included the role of Fenena in NABUCCO for TEATRO MAESTRANZA in Seville, Eboli in DON CARLO for OPERA GRAZ, and Suzuki in MADAMA BUTTERFLY both for the FESTIVAL PUCCINI TORRE DEL LAGO and with the ROYAL BANGKOK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.
Her 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 included highly acclaimed performances of CARMEN for DEN NORSKE OPERA & BALLET in Oslo, Eboli at HESSISCHES STAATSTHEATER WIESBADEN, extensive performances of Azucena in IL TROVATORE at the TEATRO DONIZETTI in Bergamo and also in Brescia, in Pavia, at TEATRO AMILCARE PONCHIELLI in Cremona and for the TEATRO SOCIALE DI COMO, Santuzza in CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA at TEATRO LIRICO DI CAGLRIARI, La Principessa di Bouillon in ADRIANA LECOUVREUR for TEATRO PETRUZZELLI in Bari and Elisabetta in MARIA STUARDA for Lisbon’s TEATRO NACIONAL DE SÂO CARLOS. She also appeared as Rubria in Boito’s NERONE at the BREGENZ FESTIVAL.
She has given performances in previous season of Santuzza for TEATRO PETRUZZELI, of Amneris for OPERA NORTH in the UK and for TEATRO CARLO FELICE GENOVA, Romeo in I CAPULETI E I MONTECCHI for TEATRO NACIONAL DE SÂO CARLOS, Emilia in OTELLO for BAYERISCHE STAATSOPER, and Tisbe in LA CENERENTOLA in Cagliari, Reggio Emilia and Bari.
Volpe has appeared regularly for THEATER ST. GALLEN, singing Eboli, Adalgisa in NORMA and Tigrana in EDGAR and also at OPERA DE TENERIFE as Fenena, Giovanna Seymour in ANNA BOLENA and Carmen.
Other engagements for Carmen have included WELSH NATIONAL OPERA, OPERA TAMPA in the USA and OPERA LYRA OTTAWA.
Other performances of Fenena include OPÉRA NICE and OPERA DE OVIEDO where she has also appeared as Maddalena in RIGOLETTO.
Her recent concert appearances have included a gala opera concert at the MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL PERFORMING ARTS CENTER in 2021. She has also enjoyed a recent personal success in performances of Poulenc’s LA VOIX HUMAINE for TEATRO PETRUZZELI.
For the METROPOLITAN OPERA NEW YORK she has previously been engaged to cover Hermia in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, Enrichetta di Francia in I PURITANI and Nicklausse/La Muse in LES CONTES d’HOFFMANN.
